The potential for retaining nutrients essential in plant growth from slurry is one which the slurry booster system specifically exploits. It achieves a two part action using a specific blend of bacteria which thrive in the harsh environment of farm slurry along with a booster pack which aids their growth and action.

Slurry Bugs
Typically without use of an inoculant or additive, up to 92% of the total nitrogen content in slurry can be lost to the atmosphere during storage in the form of gaseous ammonia. Slurry Bugs achieves retention of nitrogen by metabolising the conversion of ammonia from urea into organic forms of Nitrogen which consequently remain in the slurry in a liquid form. Due to this action, Slurry Bugs increases the value of slurry as a fertiliser that can be applied directly to the field.

Slurry Booster Micro-Nutrient
The Slurry Booster System is a totally unique slurry inoculant because the specific bacteria in Slurry Bugs are provided with essential micro-nutrients to sustain maximum activity each time they are applied to the slurry. Typically slurry is rich in organic waste (macro-nutrients) but deficient in micro-nutrients required by bacteria in order to divide and thrive in the slurry. Slurry Booster was formulated in conjunction with Advetec (Advanced Environmental Technologies) to solve this problem by providing the Slurry Bugs with the micro-nutrients they require to achieve metabolism of ammonia and also to populate the slurry lagoon at a rapid rate. Application of Slurry Booster with Slurry Bugs can achieve up to 8 times more activity of these bacteria strains therefore retaining more organic nitrogen within the slurry.
The Slurry Booster System Achieves:
- Increased Nitrogen retention
- Reduced foul odours due to reduced ammonia production
- Liquefied slurry for easier handling
- Reduced fibrous crusting
- Optimised plant uptake

The Slurry Booster System can save you money
Due to increased concentrations of organic nitrogen in the slurry following application of the Slurry Booster System this reduces the requirement for fertilisers such as ammonium nitrate. Trials carried out at Myerscough College have shown that on a farm of 340 cows, including installation of the system, this can save the farm £25,000 in fertiliser costs per annum due to utilisation of slurry as a fertiliser.
