society in general.
EnviroSystems identified that Animal Welfare and Hygienic Comfortable
Bedding is a key component of Farm Animal Welfare.
Produced
by EnviroSystems (UK) Ltd, their objective was to solve the age-old
problem of offering housed livestock a plentiful supply of affordable
and entirely effective animal bedding. Through centuries, farmers
have restricted the bedding of animals as it has to be shared round
all the livestock and is deemed to be "costly". In the
case of straw it is often used as a feed and therefore is only sparingly
used as bedding. Even high value pedigree animals are often left
with no bedding at all on their lying areas. An average dairy farm
will spend only 2 - 3% of the total outgoings on the farm in any
12 months on buying bedding. This is exceptionally low when shortage
of bedding causes stress and health problems and in the case of
dairy cows, mastitis. This disease challenge is the greatest on
all dairy farms and one, which can be kept to a minimum with the
correct bedding used in sufficient quantities.
By introducing a completely new bedding material to the existing
market, which is at present undersupplied and a "sellers market",
EnviroSystems is able to assist in lowering costs for farmers, as
there will be more availability of bedding. In addition, all EnviroBed
is heat treated, therefore pathogen free when delivered to farm.
While assisting in keeping a ceiling on the cost per tonne by adding
another product to the marketplace, EnviroSystems also hopes to
encourage farmers to see the health benefits of a softer, safer,
more absorbent product which bio-degrades easily and will spread
on land after use and cause no harm to the soil or small life forms.
The EnviroSystems team are bringing the right bedding solutions
to the market place, and provide a source of advice and expertise
on all animal bedding issues for livestock keepers. See page on
EnviroBed Bugs for a natural product which maintains clean dry healthy
deep beds for cattle at an economical price and is a once a month
only treatment. |
